Served blind at the Southwold 2009 tasting. This is a somewhat disappointing showing from Belair-Monange. It is very plump and generous on the nose with smudged mulberry, sloe and cassis aromas vying for attention. The palate is sweet but primal on the entry. It is nicely focused but it needs another dimension. Plush and sweet but needs more edginess to merit a higher score. Perhaps this is going through an awkward stage? Tasted January 2013.
