The 2015 Batailley is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. It has a lively fresh blackberry, red cherry and violet-scented bouquet that might coerce you into thinking it was from Margaux! It is very well defined, though, and gains intensity with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, supple in the mouth and certainly more approachable than the Batailleys of old. It feels harmonious and poised, supple and lithe on the finish with a satisfying saline aftertaste. There is something very assured about this Batailley, and it should drink well for many years.
