Tasted at Pebbles/Zachy's 1982 dinner in Hong Kong. The La Lagune has matured better than I expected. The nose is complex with dried autumn leaves and dried flowers infusing the black fruit. It is nicely defined with subtle black truffle notes developing with time. The palate has impressive volume and is less diminished by time than its peers, demonstrating plenty of vigour to suggest it will last another ten or fifteen years. The tannins are firm and lend this La Lagune plenty of backbone, whilst the bell pepper finish lends it a nice twist. This is better than I expected given previous bottles. Tasted November 2012.
