The 2015 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens (Domaine du Pavillon) has a perfumed bouquet with hints of wilted violet infusing the dark cherry and cassis fruit. This is powerful and demands attention, though I would have liked more terroir expression to filter through. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin, grippy in the mouth, a burly Pommard that needs to manifest more finesse and refinement towards the finish. This is a "gutsy" Pommard, but it may develop more refinement during its bottle age.
