The 2012 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has a more cautious bouquet compared to the Bonnes-Mares with cranberry, leather, potpourri and wilted rose-petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, smooth in texture, though with some oak to be absorbed. There is very good weight in the mouth and white pepper sprinkled on the strong marine influenced finish. As I described from barrel, this feels like an accomplished Musigny, but it is one for the serious long haul.
