Typically small Pomerol property of 7 ha, which, like PÉTRUS, is owned by the Moueix family. The wine is dense and very seriously structured, with considerable grip and tannin when young. Seven or 8 years’ cellaring will see the evolution of all sorts of opulent black fruit characters and oriental spices all effortlessly wrapped up in very classy new wood. On top form since 1997, although there were a number of disappointing vintages in the 1980s which you should aware of if buying older wine.
