Splendid, medium-sized domaine producing good to excellent wines from 50 ha of vines. Les Garrigues comes from very old Grenache, Terre d’Argile from an equal blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvdre. The Châteauneuf vines are planted on ideal, free-draining stony soils and this, together with a vine age averaging over 60 years, results in lovely supple, dense and powerful wines. Vinification is a good deal more modern than at some properties in the region. Jean-Luc COLOMBO has consulted here and part of the red crop is always destemmed. Ageing is in an assortment of vessels with some new oak being used for the red and white Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Chaupin and Vieilles-Vignes reds develop very well in bottle and should be given at least 4 or 5 years.
