This small domaine has been in the same family since the 17th century, however it is far more recently in 2003 that wines have been made at the property rather than the harvest being sold off. Julien Barrot took over the full-time running of the domaine in 2006. He is the first of his family to be formerly trained in winemaking at the University of Montpelier. The vineyard is planted to a range of varieties and with an average age of over 60 years. In the winery most processes can be handled by gravity and the wines are richly textured, very complex, although modern and approachable. They get a cold maceration prior to fermentation which aids the style. The Domaine Signature bottling is a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault. The Fiancée is a 50/50 assemblage of 100 year old Grenache and Syrah, while the brilliant Pure is a 100% Grenache from the oldest vines planted close to Rayas. There is also a fourth cuvée, Terroir which comes from mainly youngfer Grenache.
