A somewhat controversial producer, M. Bonneau is, as was the late Jacques Reynaud at CH. RAYAS, one of Châteauneufs more interesting characters. The two special cuvées, which are produced from a high proportion of Grenache, are generally only bottled if the vintage justifies it – otherwise a regular Châteauneuf-du-Pape is produced – and he sells to négociants to maintain quality. Both the Marie Beurrier and Réserve des Célestins wines will improve with a decade or more in bottle.
