Excellent 32.5 ha property dominated by red vine plantings and like Haut-Brion engulfed by the suburbs of Bordeaux. The white varieties account for a mere 2.5 ha with 10% of this being Muscadelle. Both wines are very rich and powerful and the red has real density and grip but remains approachable and harmonious. The tiny production of white has an elegant, intense mineral and citrus streak adding to its complexity and all nicely supported by sufficient creamy new oak. Both the red and the white have been generally good throughout the 1990s and particularly after 1995. They have not lost any of their lustre since, right up to the present date although the best vintages for the red and the white are not always the same. (DM/NB)
