Originally the second wine at LA MISSION HAUT-BRION, this property stood alone with its own identity until 2006 when it was merged back again with La Mission Haut Brion. It neighboured its former big brother and although the wines were still overshadowed by the powerful dense style of La Mission they became increasingly impressive in their own right. Some 80% of the vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, resulting in a very sturdy style in the wine’s youth. There is still plenty of this wine available on the market (at a price) but at least you won't have to worry about drinking it too young.
